The project for the exhibition “Scale a Ferrara” has been a special opportunity for the office: being curator of the exhibition and in charge of the installation design. This allowed us to ideate as a single flow of thought the content and its representation.
The project consists of two main parts: the design of the physical support elements and the ideation of the exhibition’s sequence and experience. The exhibition has been conceived as temporary and itinerant, and therefore required the study of specific technical requisites: ease of assembly and disassembly plus portability.
Another challenge was to conceive an installation that was adaptable to different spaces, also of heritage value, entering in dialogue with those and resulting in a lower impact as possible.
The proposal is a modular system with combinable elements that create several different aggregations, allowing at the same time to host different uses, to be adaptable to the specific space and to allow a coherent exhibition structure.
The exhibition “Scale a Ferrara” is a collection of photos from the 50/60ies of different stairs in historical buildings of Ferrara. The collection has a considerable documentary value and the image of the city transmitted through the photos has an intimate and refined charm.
The key topics that emerges from the collection have been the starting point of the installation. The photos have been carefully selected and a narrative sequence have been outlined. The first exhibition was intended to be hosted in the main hall, Salone d’Onore, of the historical palace of Casa Romei.
